camt.053 is the ISO 20022 XML end-of-day bank statement that European banks (and more and more banks elsewhere) provide in place of MT940. It is built for machines, not for people. This converter turns it into one spreadsheet row per transaction.
How it works

Supported
camt.053.001.02 to .001.13, camt.052 intraday reports and camt.054 notifications. Fields: booking and value date, amount and sign, counterparty name and IBAN, remittance information (Ustrd and structured creditor reference), EndToEndId, AcctSvcrRef, bank transaction code.
Why the balance check matters
If opening balance plus all entries does not equal the closing balance, the file is incomplete or was exported for the wrong period. You see it before it goes into your bookkeeping.
