What the parts mean
It starts with the CIN check letter, then the ABI (bank, 5 digits), the CAB (branch, 5) and the 12-character account number (conto).

Paying an IBAN in Italy
Within the EEA, SEPA payments need only the IBAN; the BIC is optional. Accounts are usually in euro.
Writing the IBAN in groups of four (IT51 A234 …) is the usual print format; online banking and payment files use it without spaces.
