What the parts mean
The 4 letters identify the bank (from its BIC), followed by the 6-digit sort code (NSC) and the 8-digit account number.

Paying an IBAN in Ireland
Within the EEA, SEPA payments need only the IBAN; the BIC is optional. Accounts are usually in euro.
Writing the IBAN in groups of four (IE08 ABCD …) is the usual print format; online banking and payment files use it without spaces.
