What the parts mean
The 4 letters identify the bank (from its BIC); the remaining 16 characters are the account number.

Paying an IBAN in Pakistan
For international transfers your bank will usually ask for the BIC/SWIFT code of the receiving bank too.
Writing the IBAN in groups of four (PK53 ABCD …) is the usual print format; online banking and payment files use it without spaces.
